This talk explores an ongoing transformation to integrate a mature Enterprise Architecture (EA) function into a DevOps-driven way of working. Originally initiated to make software development more agile, the change reshapes how EA governance operates—moving from periodic approval points toward continuous engagement with delivery teams. With around 50 enterprise architects and hundreds of engineers collaborating, the aim is to improve transparency, align project execution with strategic designs, and prevent costly duplication. Unlike many organizations, this transformation builds on an already well-developed EA practice, ensuring governance and agility grow together rather than in conflict. We will share the motivations, early challenges, and expected outcomes, and ask how others have bridged the cultural and operational gap between EA and DevOps. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to embed architecture principles into daily delivery without slowing down innovation.
